Generalized Reflection Coefficients
I consider general reflection coefficients for arbitrary one-dimensional whole line differential or difference operators of order 2. These reflection coefficients are semicontinuous functions of the operator: their absolute value can only go down when limits are taken. This implies a corresponding semicontinuity result for the absolutely continuous spectrum, which applies to a very large class ...
متن کاملTitchmarsh theorem for Jacobi Dini-Lipshitz functions
Our aim in this paper is to prove an analog of Younis's Theorem on the image under the Jacobi transform of a class functions satisfying a generalized Dini-Lipschitz condition in the space $mathrm{L}_{(alpha,beta)}^{p}(mathbb{R}^{+})$, $(1< pleq 2)$. It is a version of Titchmarsh's theorem on the description of the image under the Fourier transform of a class of functions satisfying the Dini-Lip...
متن کاملStrong asymptotics of the recurrence coefficients of orthogonal polynomials associated to the generalized Jacobi weight
We study asymptotics of the recurrence coefficients of orthogonal polynomials associated to the generalized Jacobi weight, which is a weight function with a finite number of algebraic singularities on [−1, 1]. The recurrence coefficients can be written in terms of the solution of the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert problem for orthogonal polynomials. Using the steepest descent method of Deift and...
متن کاملPainlevé VI and Hankel determinants for the generalized Jacobi Weight
We study the Hankel determinant of the generalized Jacobi weight (x − t)x(1 − x) for x ∈ [0, 1] with α, β > 0, t < 0 and γ ∈ R. Based on the ladder operators for the corresponding monic orthogonal polynomials Pn(x), it is shown that the logarithmic derivative of Hankel determinant is characterized by a τ -function for the Painlevé VI system.
متن کاملGeneralized Jacobi polynomials/functions and their applications
We introduce a family of generalized Jacobi polynomials/functions with indexes α,β ∈ R which are mutually orthogonal with respect to the corresponding Jacobi weights and which inherit selected important properties of the classical Jacobi polynomials. We establish their basic approximation properties in suitably weighted Sobolev spaces. As an example of their applications, we show that the gener...
